Sandspurs and headstones

Well Saturday was a trip to Shady Rest Cemetery in Holly Hill, FL to look for 5 headstones for a Find a Grave request and also to look for the headstone of Bolton Smallwood who was my great grand uncle. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSvcid=38582&GRid=29906671&&

Success on all fronts! It turned out to be a long afternoon. I found Bolton fairly quickly within maybe 15 minutes. The Moore and Fisher headstones were another issue however. My wife and I wanered the whole cemetery and were about to give up. We reached the last section and there they were. I received a very nice thank you email from the requestor so that was very nice. It made the hundreds of sandspurs worth the effort.

Congratulations on your first blog! I'm enjoying mine immensely. Who'd have though? But I can document all my weird travel stuff big and small. It's pretty cool. Your geneology project looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait to see how you do. I wouldn't mind doing something like that myself, but it would involve a lot of travel to places I've already been. But maybe I'll get inspired!

You got me started here so you are to blame he says with a laugh.

Anyway the genealogy stuff is pretty fun. With the internet so much is avaialble it's just figuring out what is real and what isn't. Getting copies of official records is much easier than I imagine in the past. Be on the lookout for my blog posting about the Florida Memory Project. What a help they just were and provided some great information!
